ComAbility investors Stata & Vertex extend round to $10 million
Additional investment made to better serve data service providers’ soaring demand for ComAbility’s subscriber and service operations platform
Palo Alto, Calif., and Herzliya, Israel, March 5, 2009-- ComAbility ( www.comability.com), which develops subscriber and services operations platforms for telecommunications carriers (telcos) and service providers (SPs), extends the round of funding received a year ago from Stata Ventures and Vertex Venture Capital from $6 million to $10 million, in order to better serve the soaring market need for the ComAbility neXus platform.
The ComAbility neXus telco-grade, subscriber and services operation platform enables SPs to simplify policy control, accelerating deployment of revenue-generating personalized subscriber services on next-generation data networks (NGNs).
ComAbility is a Cisco Technology Development Partner (CTDP) and is involved in a joint session repository project with Oracle. Last month, ComAbility reported a major win from a European Tier-1 operator that has several millions of provisioned subscribers, the 3rd of its category in the last year.
ComAbility CEO Alon Fishman says: “Especially in times like these, service providers are looking for ways to differentiate services and improve operations. Demand for mobile, wireless and wireline data services are skyrocketing, and operators that do invest in new networks seek to implement modern business models, like differentiated services, converged admission control and advanced pre-paid and policy use cases. These revenue-generating models must be supported by advanced operational models such as automation, subscriber self service, and subscriber-centric fault management.
“neXus’s ability to reduce operational costs (OPEX) and to quickly deploy new services -- increasing average revenue per user (ARPU) -- falls in line with industry analyst predictions indicating SPs’ intensified need for technologies that provide personalized subscriber services.”
Vertex Venture Capital Managing Partner Moty Ben-Arie adds: “The ComAbility solution speaks to service providers, who need to deploy personalized services to monetize their infrastructure investments, but who are deterred by the sometimes overwhelming complexity of the underlying network requirements. ComAbility’s success in acquiring major new customers and in building a healthy pipeline in these times contributed to our decision to increase capacity in order to better accommodate the opportunities.”
ComAbility Chairman of the Board is Itzik Parnafes, partner at Stata Ventures, which was co-founder of policy-management pioneer Class Data (acquired by Cisco [CSCO]) and co-founder of Kagoor Networks (acquired by Juniper [JNPR]).
